ILBA LEGISLATIVE AGENDA 2008-09

1) Oppose any statewide smoking bans that include bars where you must be 21 or older.

2) Support legislation to allow the sale of alcohol on Election Day.

3) Support legislation to allow sale of alcohol until 3AM on the Sunday preceded by Memorial and Labor Days.

4) Support voluntary purchase and educational efforts of Liquor Liability Insurance while opposing legislation of a mandatory requirement of such.

5) Support restricting the sale of alcohol at below cost.

6) Continue support for statewide, uniform enforcement of penalties for minors on premise, like drivers license revocation.

7) Oppose any new or increased taxes on, alcohol, cigarettes, or local food and beverages.

8) Continued protection of the quota system.

9) Continued protection of the three tier system.

Passed 2008

HEA 1153 – Allows taverns parity with private clubs allowing legalized pull tabs, punch boards, and daily draws.

HEA 1118 – Increased penalties for minors

Passed 2006

Actively pursued legislation that allowed the issuance of an employee permit to someone with 3 DUI’s if any one offense occurred more than ten years ago.

Supported legislation that allows wholesalers to sell or give neon signs to retailers.

Supported legislation to allow retailers to stay open until 3AM on New Years Eve if it falls on a Sunday.
